Our passion for golden retrievers (except for the immense shedding!) and labradors was always on the radar. But I must admit first falling in love with the standard poodle because of its disposition and superior intelligence. And this is where it has taken us.
Over the last 10 years, we continue to be wowed by the fairly new breeds of Labradoodles and Goldendoodles who truly offer the best of both worlds. Looks vary based on genetics and many folks opt to clip the dog to the style of their liking.
Lucy - sporting the pink scarf to the right - is a first generation Goldendoodle or F1 (50% golden retreiver; 50% poodle) as is Greta, the pretty blonde celebrating her first birthday.
Heidi, is a dark first generation Labradoodle or F1 (so she's 50% labrador and 50% poodle) and is shown celebrating her 3rd birthday.
Below are Waylon, Slick and Rocky, FIB Goldendoodles (goldendoodle bred to poodle.) Same dogs, just two different stages and haircuts.
When working with families, they often indicate they'd prefer a dog who looks more waavy than curly or more lab than poodle. We can tell when the puppy is several weeks old how their hair will likely mature and can accommodate those kind of preferences. We also offer up our two cents regarding energy levels and personalities to help in final selection.
Both Goldendoodles and Labradoodles have the sweetest personalitities. Their gentle intuititve nature combined with extra smarts makes them an excellent choice for many different homes.
